BREAKING NEWS: NETFLIX SET TO RELEASE ANOTHER EXCITING DOCUMENTARY ON COLLINGWOOD CAPTAIN DARCY MOORE AFTER HAVING AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON
In a major development that’s set to thrill AFL fans across Australia, Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a new documentary centered around Collingwood Magpies captain Darcy Moore. The project follows Moore’s remarkable 2025 AFL season and aims to offer fans a behind-the-scenes look into one of the game’s most admired leaders and personalities.
Darcy Moore, who led Collingwood through a season filled with grit, triumph, and compelling footy, has once again captured the public imagination—not only through his leadership on the field but also his intelligence, articulate nature, and unique charisma off it. The documentary, tentatively titled “Moore Than a Game: The Darcy Moore Story”, is scheduled for a global premiere on Netflix in early August.
According to Netflix Australia’s Head of Originals, Melissa Chambers, the decision to produce another Moore-centric documentary was a no-brainer. “Darcy Moore represents the modern AFL player: passionate, resilient, socially conscious, and incredibly engaging. After the success of our previous sports documentaries, it became clear that fans want to go deeper into the stories of athletes who not only dominate the field but inspire beyond it. Darcy’s journey is one of those rare stories.”
The documentary will reportedly cover key moments from the 2025 season, including Moore’s stellar performances during the finals series, his emotional speech after the Magpies’ preliminary final win, and his efforts off the field, including mental health advocacy and work in indigenous communities. Interviews will feature Moore’s teammates, coaches, family members, and prominent AFL figures.
A teaser released by Netflix shows unseen locker room footage, emotional team huddles, and Moore addressing his team during some of the most critical moments of the season. Also teased is exclusive content from his personal life—offering fans a glimpse into the pressures, expectations, and personal sacrifices behind the scenes.
Moore, who took over the Collingwood captaincy in 2023, has evolved into a natural leader known for his calm demeanor and deep understanding of the game. Under his guidance, Collingwood maintained their status as a top contender in the AFL, and Moore himself earned All-Australian honors for the third consecutive year. Despite battling injuries earlier in his career, 2025 saw the 29-year-old defender enjoy one of his most complete seasons to date.
“I never imagined my journey would be captured in this way,” Moore said in a statement on Saturday. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to share the highs and lows of this season. Footy is more than just a game—it’s community, identity, resilience. I hope this documentary reflects that.”
The move is seen as part of Netflix’s broader strategy to invest in more Australian sports content. After the global success of “Untold” and “Drive to Survive”, sports documentaries have become a booming genre, giving fans an unprecedented look into the worlds of their favorite athletes.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon welcomed the news, saying, “This is not only great for Collingwood and Darcy Moore, but for the AFL as a whole. It’s a chance to showcase the incredible stories in our game to a global audience. Darcy represents everything great about modern football and leadership.”
Filmed over a six-month span, the documentary is a collaboration between Netflix, Mushroom Studios, and the AFL’s media arm. The direction is led by acclaimed Australian filmmaker Kriv Stenders, best known for his work on Red Dog and Australia Day.
With Moore continuing to build his legacy both on and off the field, fans can expect an emotional, raw, and deeply human portrayal of a footballer who has become one of the most compelling figures in Australian sport.
