Portsmouth nearing at least one more signing – Mousinho confident
Portsmouth head coach John Mousinho has confirmed that the club is close to completing at least one additional signing as the January transfer window edges toward its conclusion.
The Blues have already strengthened their squad with three new arrivals this month, adding midfielder Ebou Adams along with wingers Millenic Alli and Keshi Anderson. However, with the transfer deadline fast approaching on Monday, Mousinho believes there is still more business to be done.
Speaking about the club’s progress, Mousinho explained that discussions are moving in the right direction and that an announcement could be imminent. He suggested that one deal in particular is close to being finalised, potentially as soon as Thursday, although the club is still keeping a close eye on injury situations before committing fully.
Despite those considerations, the Portsmouth boss expressed satisfaction with the impact made by the players who have already joined, noting that they have quickly strengthened the squad. His priority, he stressed, is to ensure the team emerges from the transfer window in a stronger position than when it entered.
Mousinho added that while further additions before the weekend would be welcome, the overall aim is quality rather than speed. He remains confident that the club will secure the players it needs, explaining that Portsmouth have deliberately remained patient over some late-window targets.
Although the January window has felt relatively quiet so far, Mousinho expects activity to increase in the final days, as clubs move to complete their business before the deadline.
