Jaden Dixon has officially completed a move to Arsenal, ending his time at Stoke City just over two and a half years after he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur. The highly rated 18-year-old defender, who represents England at under-19 level, is set to link up with Arsenal’s under-21 squad as part of his continued development.
The transfer was confirmed publicly around 22 hours after the official transfer deadline had already passed, adding an unusual twist to the deal’s announcement. During his spell at Stoke, Dixon found first-team opportunities limited. He featured for only nine minutes in league competition but did gain more exposure in cup football, starting four matches in the Carabao Cup.
Although the transfer fee has not been formally disclosed, reports suggest the deal could be worth up to £3.2 million. This figure is comparable to the reported £3 million fee Stoke paid to Chelsea for winger Ato Ampah. However, according to The Sentinel, these headline figures likely represent a best-case scenario, dependent on performance-related add-ons and future clauses being triggered. The initial guaranteed fees in both deals are understood to be significantly lower than the maximum reported values.
Overall, the move marks a fresh chapter for Dixon as he joins Arsenal’s youth setup, while Stoke stand to benefit financially should the various clauses in the agreement be fulfilled over time.
