“Honestly, early in the game, I thought he was going to cruise,” Mattingly said after the contest. “Things just got away from him. He fell behind in the count, gave up a few hits, and after that he struggled to finish hitters off.”
Nola exited with one out in the fifth inning and was replaced by , who was unable to prevent additional runs from scoring, leaving more damage on Nola’s stat line. The 33-year-old is currently in the third year of his seven-year, $172 million contract and is earning close to $25 million during the 2026 season.
