Wolverhampton Wanderers are increasingly open to parting ways with Enso Gonzalez, with fresh interest from Spain strengthening the possibility of an exit. According to Spanish outlet AS, La Liga side Mallorca have made initial enquiries about the Wolves defender as they look to bolster their options in wide areas.

Mallorca are understood to be targeting players who can operate out wide, and with several alternative targets no longer available, the Paraguayan has emerged as a viable option for the club. Their interest comes at a time when Gonzalez’s future at Molineux appears uncertain.

From Wolves’ standpoint, the timing of the enquiry aligns with recent developments around the player. AS report that Gonzalez is not currently part of head coach Rob Edwards’ plans, noting that he has failed to make a matchday squad since early January, when Wolves recorded a 3–0 victory over West Ham United. With the club enduring a challenging campaign and firmly focused on survival, opportunities for rotation have been limited, further reducing Gonzalez’s chances of involvement.

The report also revisits the defender’s background at Wolves. Gonzalez joined the club from Paraguayan side Libertad as a teenager in a deal worth around £4.25 million (€5 million). He made his senior debut in May 2024, albeit in limited fashion, featuring for just a minute late on in a Premier League fixture. Since then, his involvement has largely been away from the first-team setup, despite Wolves continuing to support him during his recovery from injury.

Permanent Exit Now on the Table

Crucially, the situation may now extend beyond a simple loan move. AS claim Wolves are exploring the possibility of a permanent transfer and would be willing to accept a significantly reduced fee, believed to be in the region of £1.7 million to £2.5 million (€2 million to €3 million). While a loan deal has not been completely ruled out, the report suggests the club are keen to establish a clearer understanding of Gonzalez’s current market value.

This development adds a new dimension to the player’s situation. Until now, speculation had largely centred on temporary moves designed to secure regular playing time. However, Mallorca’s enquiry and Wolves’ apparent willingness to sanction a cut-price sale indicate the Premier League side may be actively testing the market as they reassess Gonzalez’s long-term role at the club.
