Reports suggest that Edwards was informed on Wednesday evening that speculation about his future was inaccurate, only to be told the following morning by technical director Matt Jackson that he was being relieved of his duties.
Edwards had already begun planning for Wolves’ Championship campaign after their relegation from the Premier League. He played a key role in the club’s early transfer activity, including helping secure the signing of Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United.
Wolves chairman Nathan Shi thanked Edwards and his coaching staff for their efforts during a difficult period for the club. He described the decision as a challenging one, explaining that a comprehensive review of the football operation led the club to conclude that a new direction was needed.
