Reports suggest Derby County is exploring a permanent move for forward Ben Brereton Díaz, currently on a season-long loan from Southampton. The striker arrived in August 2025, with his deal set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Head coach John Eustace has openly admitted he is hopeful a deal can be struck, highlighting the forward’s importance to his plans. Derby are believed to be encouraged by Brereton Díaz’s impact, both in attack and overall team play.
Financially, a fee in the region of £2–3 million has been suggested as a fair valuation, particularly if Southampton achieve promotion to the Premier League. However, negotiations may not be straightforward, with the player still under contract at Southampton until June 2028.
As the summer window approaches, Derby’s ambition to secure his services permanently is becoming increasingly clear.
