I’m a better player – John Eustace cautioned players over attitude – I’ll better let them go

John Eustace has delivered a strong and timely warning to his squad, calling out damaging attitudes within the dressing room that he believes have cost the team valuable results this season. Speaking to the media, Eustace stopped short of naming the player involved, insisting his role as a leader is to protect individuals while confronting issues head-on.

The manager revealed frustration over what he described as an “I’m a better player” mentality, suggesting certain attitudes have undermined unity, discipline, and collective purpose. According to Eustace, football is won by teams, not egos, and any mindset that places individual status above the badge has no place in his dressing room.

“This personality has made us lose too many matches,” Eustace warned. “It must stop, and it must stop now.”

The message was clear: talent alone will not carry the club forward without commitment, humility, and sacrifice. While refusing to fuel speculation by identifying anyone publicly, Eustace made it known the issue has been addressed internally and players have been cautioned to desist immediately.

His comments reflect a manager drawing a line and demanding accountability as the club looks to reset standards. For supporters, it may be a sign that deeper issues are being confronted — and that Eustace is prepared to protect the group while challenging those who threaten its progress.
