A HIGHLY-RATED Celtic talent has reportedly rejected a new contract in Glasgow in favour of a lucrative move down south.

Celtic forward Daizen Maeda has reportedly rejected a £35 million transfer offer from a major European club, opting to remain at Celtic FC as he continues to play a key role in the club’s plans moving forward.

Maeda, 27, is currently a first-team regular at Celtic and has grown into a firm fan favourite at Celtic Park, thanks to his relentless work rate, pace, and tactical discipline. His ability to contribute both offensively and defensively has made him an integral part of the squad and a player highly valued by the coaching staff.

Sources close to the situation indicate that the offer, which included performance-related incentives, would have ranked among the largest bids Celtic have received in recent seasons. Despite the financial significance of the proposal and the profile of the interested club, Maeda is understood to have been clear about his desire to remain in Glasgow.

> “I’m happy at Celtic,” Maeda is reported to have said.

“The supporters, the club, and the ambition here mean a great deal to me. I want to keep pushing for success with this team.”

Celtic are believed to view Maeda as a crucial part of their short- and long-term strategy, particularly given his consistency at domestic level and his experience in European competition. His decision to stay is seen internally as a strong signal of stability and continuity within the squad.

Managerial staff are understood to have welcomed the player’s commitment, with Maeda’s professionalism and intensity regarded as setting standards within the dressing room.

Supporters responded positively as news of the rejected bid emerged, praising the forward’s loyalty and commitment, and reinforcing his status as one of the most trusted figures in the current Celtic side.

With Maeda choosing continuity over a high-profile move, Celtic retain one of their most dependable performers as they continue to pursue domestic honours and European progress.
