Robin Roefs Contract Talks Stall as Everton Weigh Alternative Goalkeeper Move
Everton’s pursuit of goalkeeper Robin Roefs has reportedly hit a major stumbling block after negotiations over personal terms reached an impasse. The Dutch shot-stopper is said to be demanding a significant wage increase, with his representatives pushing for a salary of £120,000 per week, up from the club’s proposed £30,000 per week package.
The Toffees are reluctant to meet those demands and are now considering walking away from the deal rather than breaking their wage structure. Club officials are believed to be exploring alternative options in the transfer market, with a Burnley goalkeeper now emerging as a leading candidate to strengthen Everton’s goalkeeping department.
While talks with Roefs have not completely collapsed, both parties remain some distance apart financially. Unless a compromise is reached soon, Everton appear prepared to move on and complete a deal elsewhere, ensuring they secure their preferred goalkeeping addition before the transfer window closes.
