Millwall Forward Macaulay Langstaff Completes Move to Salford City
Millwall striker Macaulay Langstaff has officially completed a transfer to League Two side Salford City for an undisclosed transfer fee, bringing an end to his two-year spell at The Den.
According to reports from NewsAtDen, Millwall are believed to have recovered the amount they originally paid to sign Langstaff from Notts County two years ago, meaning the club has effectively recouped its investment in the experienced forward.
The 29-year-old made a total of 75 appearances for Millwall across all competitions during his time with the club. Although he found the back of the net only five times and contributed three assists, Langstaff delivered several memorable moments. Among his most notable contributions was the decisive goal that ended Millwall’s long-standing winless run at Carrow Road against Norwich City. He also scored a dramatic late equaliser away to Leicester City in the penultimate Championship fixture of the season, rescuing a valuable point for the Lions.
Before joining Millwall, Langstaff had established himself as one of the most prolific goalscorers outside the Premier League. His remarkable exploits with Notts County saw him rewrite scoring records in both the National League and League Two, earning widespread recognition as one of the country’s most clinical strikers.
Langstaff’s football journey began in non-league football during his teenage years before he secured a move to National League club Gateshead at the age of 20. Following a productive two-year spell with York City, he returned to Gateshead, where he enjoyed the finest season of his early career. During the 2021–22 campaign, he scored an impressive 28 goals in the National League South and was deservedly named the club’s Player of the Year for his outstanding performances.
His exceptional form earned him a transfer to Notts County, where he elevated his reputation even further. In his debut season, Langstaff scored an extraordinary 42 goals, playing a pivotal role in helping the Magpies secure promotion to League Two. He continued his prolific scoring record after promotion, netting another 28 goals in his first season in the English Football League and establishing himself as one of the division’s standout forwards.
Speaking after completing his move to Salford City, Langstaff expressed his excitement about the challenge ahead and his determination to achieve promotion once again.
He explained that winning promotions represents some of the proudest moments of his football career and admitted that his primary ambition is to experience that success again with Salford. Drawing on the experience he has gained playing at this level alongside high-quality teammates, he hopes to contribute both on and off the pitch by helping the younger members of the squad.
Langstaff also stressed that he joined Salford because of the club’s ambitious vision. He revealed that conversations with the club’s owners, who have enjoyed considerable success in football and other industries, convinced him that Salford was the right destination. Their determination and long-term plans, combined with positive discussions with the manager and existing players, reinforced his belief that the club is well managed and heading in the right direction. Those factors ultimately made his decision straightforward, and he is now eager to begin the new chapter of his career with the aim of helping Salford City secure promotion this season.
